How do I get the text to appear as sharp and dark as it appears on IE8, when viewing the exact same web-site? Prefer to work with msn.com web page.
Firefox 21 and 22 (I have 22.0 installed) improved the font sizes. Before that, I had to use the NoSquint add-on. I still have NoSquint, but am running it at 100%. Removing it doesn't change anything. The fonts in IE8 are nicer, darker and/or maybe thicker, giving the appearance of darker, and are therefore easier to read. This has always been the case. Using full zoom or text zoom, or NoSquint magnification on Firefox doesn't improve the situation. Any ideas on how to make the Firefox fonts as readable as on IE8? Again, would like use the MSN.com web-page for testing purposes. Thanks.

ok, thanks for reporting back - the cleartype settings generally apply to fonts in all programs of the operating system (only IE seems to do its rendering independently).
in case there are also other users reading here with a similar issue - in windows vista & upwards it is possible to fine-tune the font rendering in firefox with the following addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/anti-aliasing-tuner/

hello you might want to try adjusting your cleartype settings in windows xp: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearType/tuner/Step1.aspx
That definitely worked, making FF22 and IE8 text very similar, but it made the text on my favorite email program, Outlook Express, a bit fuzzy. But not terrible. Is there anything that would just have an effect on Firefox 22.0? Thank you.
After further review, the clear type font solution is working well.
