why do I have to select 'request desktop site' every time I visit a website? I visit a site, two minutes later I visit again and have to click 'request desktop site' again! Also in beta, why not keep the top sites bar there all the time? it doesn't take up that much screen real estate.

Hi,
Please try changing the user agent.
To change the User Agent string, just enter about:config as an address in the address bar of FireFox, the location where you normally enter a URL (link). I recommend to preserve the original value, which you can get when you enter just about: in the address bar.
Now press the right mouse button to get the context menu and select "String" from the menu entry "New". Enter the preference name "general.useragent.override", without the quotes. Next, enter the new User Agent value: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0" ( also without quotes) .
Hope this helps!

Hi,
How about the addon Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar? See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/roomy-bookmarks-toolbar/
Hope this helps!

Isn't this in the mobile forum? that's where I posted it. im using a nexus 7??? I can't see roomy bookmarks a an add-on.
Hi,
Unfortunately there is no equivalent addon that lets you do this.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. However, if you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.
Hope this helps!

The Extensions for mobile Firefox is found at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/ rather as the Firefox one by default is for desktop.
