I have upgraded Firefox to version 26. When I am installing XPI packgae and after installing of add-on, it is not asking for restart. There is no restart button.

I have to goto add-on extension manager and from there I see 'restart now' link.

Is some behavior changed from Firefox 26 onward? How to make add-on install work as previous, where it will ask for restart. Please suggest option.

Thank you, Akash.

Thanks Sukanya.

I have followed the link provided, however I did not see comment where it says Firefox stopped asking for restart after add-on install.

Could you please point me at the exact content. Also, is there any setting that allows to keep Firefox old behavior.

Thank you.

You may see a puzzle icon or other icon on the left end of the location bar.

Are you using the default theme?

Yes, there is puzzle icon on left of location bar. When I click on puzzle icon it go away. I dont see option to restart firefox otherthan going to add-on manager or restart manually.

I am not using default theme. Will that impact the add-on install behavior?

Hi, I have noticed that latest firefox has many extensions which do not even need restart!

If an extension doesn't require a restart then this is shown on its Add-ons page.
If you see a message on the about:addons page (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that a restart is necessary then something else is wrong.
