E.g. I use four Firefox windows each with about five tabs. The memory use is to big so I want to close Firefox completely. This takes about five minutes, low processor use but heavy disc use. If I instead delete the Firefox process and restarts Firefox often it tries to resume all the old pages which takes o long time. I want a reliable way to close Firefox fast without risking it opens with lot of old pages.

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to remove any data?
If you do then try to disable this feature and do it manually.

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar.
