I think you are talking about new tab:

You can try restore it, just go to about:config search for browser.newtab.url change its value to about:newtab

You may also have disabled the new tab page, so check for a faint 3x3 grid icon in the top right corner (browser.newtabpage.enabled = true).

I have this problem also. I use Firefox 32.03 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

At first i thought it was one of the many add-ons i use that was causing this problem, but after restarting Firefox in safe-mode (without any add-on) it still wasn't working properly. I also tried the same website in Internet Explorer 11 and it works fine there, so it looks like a Firefox bug to me.

I have this problem since i updated Firefox to version 31 from 28. If it wasn't for the "Classic Theme Restorer" add-on, i probably would have removed Firefox from my machines after being a Firefox user for about 8 years since version 2. What a mess Mozilla made of the Firefox UI... i hate it.

But back on topic: like the maker of this topic said, it doesn't always open de weblink in the same tab, in most cases it works as intended and opens a new tab when i use <CTRL> + <Mouse Left Click> on a weblink.

I hope you can reproduce this problem when visiting this website from a Dutch theme park:

https://www.walibi.com/holland/nl-nl/attracties/thrills

All links on top of this page work fine, but when you use the links at the bottom-side of the photos (Condor, Excalibur, G-Force, Goliath) the webpage will open in the same tab.

If you need more examples of websites, with links that behave like this, i can find some very easily, but this was the last one where i noticed this behaviour.

Hopefully you can fix this bug.
