Aurora is trying to install update 30.0a2. It downloads a 3.4 mB file but the install fails. It then downloads the 36mb file which still wont install. If I try and download from scratch I run the file firefox-30.0a2.en_US.win32.installer-stub.exe. When that runs I get a message in 7 -zip "cannot create temp archive folder"

Problem solved. It was a corrupt user account. I created a new one brought across the appdata local and roaming mozilla profiles and its now ok.

Thanks

That's definitely weird.

Try uninstalling Aurora completely from your system via Control Panel and download a fresh copy from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/aurora/

Make sure you don't remove your personal settings in the uninstaller

I tried this. When I try and run the install file I get the "cannot create temp archive folder" message

Hi,

Have you tried running the install file as Administrator? Right click > Run as administrator

Also, try downloading the full version instead of the compressed installer

You want the firefox-30.0a2.en-US.win32.installer.exe located near the bottom.

P.S. This error message comes from the stub file that tries to unpack the archive to start the installation and creates a folder in the temp folder to do this and seems to fail to complete this operation.

opening as administrator didn't help. I tried to open the ftp file. Same issue

Try clearing out your Temp folder and running the FTP file as Administrator.

To get to the Temp directory, Press the Windows key + R to open the Run command, and type %temp% press Enter.
Delete everything in that folder.

I tried that too.
