In Firefox, on my FaceBook page and yahoo mail, there are Browse to Save ads everywhere! They are driving me insane. I disabled all add-onos and plugins and the problem remains. I clicked on on the ad and went to browse to save's site where they say they tell you how to uninstall it, but there is no way to uninstall it because it doesn't show up in plugins or add-ons. Help!

One of the categories of add-ons is Extensions. Make sure you check that group as well:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Some websites mention a program you need to uninstall from the Windows Control Panel:

Start > Control Panel > Programs / Programs and Features > Uninstall a program

Look for Browse2save and terminate with remove it

You can also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

These ads might be shown by trojans as well. Make sure your proxy settings are clean as well. If there are no malicious proxy server, scan with Malwarebytes, Hitman pro and adwcleaner- these programs should handle different types of infections and clean your PC.

Hi in the end I ended up finding out that this is a program which calls itself various plausible names so hides in plain sight in your list of installed programs. Google its various pseudonyms and just uninstall as for any other unwanted program from your control panel. I found it in the end (can't remember what mine was called i'm afraid) and uninstalled it. My missus had been using my computer to stream some foreign films, had turned off the ad blocker, and had installed it as a result. life is good now! Hope you've got to the bottom of it (none of the anti-malware/ virus software I have -or tried- found it...)

not feeling quite as thick (although it's still a moot point!) now that my old toughbook is my friend again!
