Hello,

since several versions of TB I am astonished that the TB is complete reloading the folder(s) when I want only fix the index (because e.g. when I miss new emails in overview or actual try only to set the "default sort order" to descending).

Mailbox are used as IMAP (and I think years before also as POP3) and so TB could check /compare the email headers and should/need only download new messages if neccessary ... and it would be nice to have a function to only re-indexing the folder for such cases.

Bests

Reiner

A POP account can not be converted to an IMAP one or vise versa.

So is the issue IMAP or POP?

do you have Thunderbird set to download (synchronise locally) all mail or just headers?

Note that where only headers are synchronised locally and you make the index obsolete there is nothing else to do but get a new one from the server as there is no local copy of the emails.
