I have had thunderbird for quite a few years now. When I click on the icon, I now get an error message. "Thunderbird had a problem and crashed." Your help would be appreciated.

Try to download the full installer from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/ and install Thunderbird again.

I removed Thunderbird from my computer and then, reinstalled it as you suggested. It still crashes.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
