I've just discovered a new symbol in my toolbar which says it is Hello. I think it appeared when I updated to the latest version of FireFox, but hopefully not, as that would mean it was getting more like Microsoft, and foisting things on users that they may not actually want!!

I believe "Hello" is for messaging etc.

I do NOT want it. Can anyone please let me know how to totally disable it, and preferably, how to get rid of it.

Thank you,

Ian

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but some icons are locked in place.

Just drop the icon into the "bank."

If you right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode then you can remove this item from the toolbar.

  • "Remove from Toolbar" will remove this item from the Navigation Toolbar and moves it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize)
  • "Move to Menu" will move this item to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
  • "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list will move this item to the toolbar

You can set loop.enabled to false on the about:config page. You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
