If your inbox folder is connected via IMAP to your gmail or yahoo account then any deletion will be synchronised.
Well at least that is the effect for me using 1and1.
You can easily test this by sending your self a test email and watch what happens when you delete it. A deletion in GMAIL or Yahoo should cause that the email disappears in Thunderbird and vice versa.
If the deletion in Thunderbird settings are such the email is move to the trash folder (or similar named) than you would find the email in that folder also on the GMAIL or Yahoo web interface.
IMAP is server based. You read messages remotely with your devices. If you delete a message at the server or from a device, it is gone. Low memory where? What is your actual question?
