the number of files in each folder has disappeared from the folder pane

I am new to Thunderbird. When I was set up, the number of messages in each folder was displayed in the folder pane against each folder - the number unread was also displayed in bold. As a result of experimenting with various options. the numbers have now disappeared and only the names of the accounts and folders are now displayed. What can I do to get them back?

View/Layout/Folder Pane Columns or AppMenu/Options/Layout/Folder Pane Columns, then right-click a folder column button to enable Size or Unread or Total.
