recently some of my emails have been delayed - for example an email time stamped at say 10:00 am may not arrive into my in box until 1, 2 or even 3 hours later
Seems to be random. Also I notice that at the same time as I receive the late email I appear to have my normal internet access to other sites (by normal I mean download speeds of 2.5 to 3.5 Mbps and upload 0.5 Mbps).

are the delayed mails coming from small business. (non yahoo,gmail, outlook, hotmail type) addresses
seems to be the smaller companies
