I wish to have spellchecking for multiple languages, but simultaneously and without having to open Options > Composition > Spelling > Language selection for each email, not to mention some emails are mixed languages.

My issue is the same as already asked in this thread from 2017: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1190636

However the suggested plugin does not work with the current version of Thunderbird. I have checked the plugin store, but was unable to find anything, perhaps also related to the fact that finding "good" and safe plugins is like finding needles in a haystack.

Is there another recommended avenue to enable multiple languages?

Cheers!

Chosen solution

The add-on mentioned in 2017, Automatic Dictionary, claims to be compatible with the current release, 68. There is another add-on for 68, Dictionary for recipient, that performs a similar function. Simultaneous spellchecking by multiple dictionaries seems impractical, in that each dictionary would find words in other languages misspelled.

In the lower right corner of the Write window, if the Status Bar is shown, the current dictionary is displayed; click it to choose another dictionary.
