Have used Thunderbird for many years with no problems on Windows 10. Recently there seemed to be a lot of updates. Now I cannot open Thunderbird - get message "Couldn't load XPCOM."

Recently had to delete Kaspersky and it was replaced with ultraAV along with ultraVPN. Haven't used a VPN previously but wonder if there is a connection to the "Couldn't open XPCOM." This message appears whether the VPN is not in use or is in use.

Do I need to reinstall? And if I do will my stored messages and email address be there. I am not computer sophisticated.

(I can read emails on my phone.)

just reinstall. the error message indicates a corrupt install. Your profile should remain okay. I would install the new over the top of the old - not uninistalling the old.
