Dear "Thunderbird community",

I am a laywoman and need help.

I have been using thunderbird for many years on my laptop, version supernova. The laptop runs with windows7. On 8.1.2025 I did an update, as I have often done, and became up to date with version supernova 115.18.0 (32 bit).

But: from then on there was no more incoming mail.

(in the bottom line it says: Functionality of the mail server is being checked).

Sending mails works without problems.

My server setting so far has been IMAP imap20.world4you.com port 143 and STARTTLS.

(Outgoing mail server imap20.world4you.com port 587 and my mail address)

On the Internet I found a recommendation, but from 2021, to change the server port to 993. and the connection security to SSL/TLS, (the outgoing port to port 465).I tried that, but it didn't help.

now it says in the bottom line: ...Connected to imap20.world4you.com

but no incoming mail.

I also looked at world4you, here the server is currently named imap.world4you.com, without "20". this could not be changed in the thunderbird server settings.

i also use thunderbird on a desktop computer (windows 10pro), there the version nebula 128.6.0esr (64-bit), without any problems. and on my mobile phone as well, without any problems.

but I need a working version on my laptop.

Please help! as soon as possible

best regards

Heidrun

Chosen solution

The recommended settings are:

incoming IMAP server: imap.world4you.com, port 993, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address

outgoing SMTP server: smtp.world4you.com, port 587, STARTTLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address

You should be able to edit the settings in Account Settings, as long as the existing settings are for an IMAP account (which they are). But if the current settings are working on other devices, but not the laptop, it suggests the antivirus on the laptop is incompatible with the version of TB. State the laptop's antivirus and whether the TB profile, or email in general, is excluded from antivirus scanning, which is always the recommended setup.

If Thunderbird stops working after having upgraded to a new version, always check this first to make sure you're using a profile with the right settings:
