How do I stop Firefox from asking me to set up a sync account?
Frequently, when I launch Firefox on my Android tablet, a window pops up wanting me to set up Sync, and a sync account. I do not want to sync any of my devices. Ever. How can I disable sync, and get it to stop asking me to create an account?

Hi Sigmo,
You can turn those messages off, no problem.
- In Firefox on your tablet, go to about:config
- Use the search box at the top right to find browser.snippets.syncPromo.enabled and change it to false
- Enjoy not being nagged about Sync any more. :)
Hope that does the trick!

Thank you very much. I switched that setting. I believe that will get the job done!
Fantastic.
If everything's sorted, please do mark the problem as solved - it makes it easier for us to keep track of who still needs help. :)
Cheers
Too early. Despite making that change, when I fired up Firefox just now, it popped up with the "welcome to sync" thing again, and there's no way to dismiss it. You have to kill Firefox and restart it to get past it.
Update. Changing that setting seems to have actually made this problem worse. Perhaps, now, the system thinks I have opted in to sync, because it comes up with the "Welcome to sync" dialog every time I launch Firefox now. Killing FF, and re-launching it gets past the dialog, but only once. Next time, its in my face again.
It seems as if Mozilla has some interest in forcing us to use sync, putting our browsing information out there on the cloud, perhaps?
How frustrating! Sorry about that.
The only other I can suggest is to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it from the Play store. This will completely reset your profile, so you will lose your bookmarks, passwords and history.
By the way, have you tried hitting the back button when you see the welcome screen? Should take you straight back into Firefox.
