Firefox sync isn't working - new account, only bookmarks and cookies are syncing, no settings and most importantly, extensions.

I cannot get certain parts of sync working at all. I love FF but it is the one area where it has always fallen down for me versus Chrome.

36.0.1 on two machines in the same household. Bookmarks, passwords and history seem to work okay. But extensions, preferences and tabs do not. I have the same (brand new) account on both, I have mashed the sync now button on both, with one closed and the other open and with both open.

If I delete a bookmark, or add one, it happens in near realtime. I see the sync button in the toolbar spin blue for sec after any changes are made. It makes it even more infuriating that it won't sync my extensions.

Much gnashing of teeth.

I've played around a bit - any extensions added after turning on sync are working, but none of the previously installed.

I may do a "refresh" and reinstall my extensions, and customize my layout.

Hopefully sync will pick everything up then - but it really, really shouldn't take this amount of effort. This can't be by design, surely?
