Server has disconnected after a long suspend
I installed Thunderbird on my Linux Mint 17.1 system and set my Gmail account up. I suspended the computer. It stayed suspended for a very long time, more than 2 hours.
After I woke the machine up again, Thunderbird didn't receive the messages anymore. The activity manager reported: "Server ***@gmail.com has disconnected"
How can Thunderbird be made suspend-friendly? I'm using the version 1:31.6.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1. My architecture is amd64

well sleep in whatever operating system usually disconnects the network card. So how can a connection be maintained if there is no network connection?
