Cant find English Dictionary for Thunderbird 38.0.1 SOLVED

New to Thunderbird. Just installed 38.0.1 on Win 8.1 and I cannot get spell check to work.

In "Options" there are no dictionaries show in the "Language" pull-down on the spelling dialogue so I followed the link "Download more dictionaries" but all the English dictionaries are marked "Not available for Thunderbird 38.0.1"

What do I do ?
