Set up Pockets, now can't print pages-they want to save on desktop as .xps! Help!
Yesterday I set up Pockets and it works fine. Today I can't print web pages. When I try, the print window comes up, then it is interrupted by a "save as" window wanting me to save the page as an.xps file onto my desktop! If I do so, then I can't open it! I have tried printing pages from several websites, even inside my email accounts, but FF substitutes "save as" for printing. This happens whether I use the print button in the toolbar, or the print option on a web page. I did not change any settings. Yesterday I was printing just fine. Did Pockets disable printing?? (And, out of curiosity, just what is an .xps file?) I need my print function back. I can print word docs okay, so my printer is fine. It's a browser issue.

Microsoft has a "virtual printer" called "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" to create .xps files, which are Microsoft's answer to .pdf files.
The next time you want to print, in the Print dialog (you can invoke it using Ctrl+p), use the drop-down list at the top to select your "real" printer.
Hopefully Firefox will remember that going forward. If it doesn't, your system default might have gotten switched to the XPS printer.
Thanks! I just discovered that before seeing your reply, so your reply confirms it. Now, did Pockets make the Msft XPS doc writer my default printer for the purpose of "saving" pages quickly?? If so, there is no sense in trying to change the default back to my real printer. I would like to have my real printer as the default. Too bad Pockets can't automatically switch to the XPS writer without changing the default setting! YES, FIREFOX, REMEMBER THIS GOING FORWARD! POCKETS CAUSES A PRINTING CONFLICT!
I messed around with it a bit and got my real printer back as default. Then I pocketed a page. Then I printed it and the print window still showed my real printer as default. So it seems everything is working fine. Setting up pockets may have caused the issue. Hopefully it remains stable now.
I don't think Pocket uses your printer to save pages, I think they have you save just the links onto their site. However, I haven't tried it myself yet.
