There are many utility programs that can do this. Look for free programs in the software sites like Cnet.com

Quite honestly, with the complaints that have been posted here and other support fora about C/Net downloads (and other similar sources for programs that have been "considered safe"over the years) this year about C/Net "bundling" what many consider malware with many programs, that would be the last place that I would consider downloading anything from these days.

IMO, use it to select a program you are interested in using and then search for the author's own website.

It’s very sad, but many of the software down-loaders / installers will trick you into installing not only their program, but other programs as well. You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print. You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that you do not even know what it is or what it does. From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.

Hm, good to hear, I only wrote "nice website" because it is maybe nice for the guy who advised me, but i was on first sight irritated seeing this overload of info and it doesnt bring me a millimeter closer to solving my - too simple - question. In a former version Apple had this possibility of a timer, but they seem to have skipped it in the last. New is not always better. So.... same question remains brothers. thanks, Mariksa
