I don't know how you managed to install Windows without Internet Explorer; at least the base version that came with Win7.

Whatever, Favorites need to be exported in HTML format to be able to use import bookmarks from HTML in Firefox. OR you need to use Import data from another browser to get then from IE.

It's quite simple really, you just allow Windows to "do its thing" and then go and remove the unwanted rubbish from the installation.

Obviously each individual Favourite is in HTML format, but I don't have the time to contemplate importing each one individually.

I would have thought there might be a quicker method tucked away in the workings of FireFox?

IE is a part of the system it upgrades and the explorer.exe you use inside widows so is not a good idea to unistall it completelly try to download and install again and you will see if it will take the bookmarks from the version you had.

Sorry, but IE is not in fact part of the system, and does not affect upgrades or Windows Explorer, they all work fine without it being there.

Having painstakingly gone through my entire system to ensure that all traces of Internet Explorer are removed, I feel disinclined to do a reinstall at this point in time.

I would have thought it a simple task for FireFox to have been pointed at a Folder, anywhere on the system, and an import carried out accordingly. But, maybe I am wrong in that assumption --- time will tell.

There was a time period in the Microsoft site that they couldn’t see that my windows are genuine using Firefox browser I was download all the upgrades from them and I was saving them in an external disk for some time they had to download a tool for Firefox and see if the windows are genuine they don’t use it anymore and I have a problem of ding the same basically what they did was to force me if I like to download upgrades to use IE and this is not joke you know!?

try this one with firefox and you will see is not working with ie reports my windows are genuine and i have no problem there is no tool to download for firefox anymore.

and basicaly this is your problem from were you will download ie9 or 11 if you don't have IE? have you any idea how many pages in microsoft are scanning automaticly if your windows are genuine? very too many....

See if this helps you:

Open your Profile folder - Help > Troubleshooting Information --> Profile Folder = Show Folder

Then make a copy of the bookmarks.html file. That's the default bookmarks that come with Firefox. View that copy in a text editor and add the URL's from the Windows Favorites folder. Wordpad will provide a formatted view, where Notepad doesn't provide line breaks making it harder to read.

That <!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1> bookmarks.html is fairly "self-healing" when imported into Firefox. IOW, don't worry about the DL & DT formatting - Firefox usually compensates for that.

Well, I did what you suggested, especially as it sounded the best and most logical option to date, but unfortunately I do not appear to have a bookmark.html. (See screen-shot attached) --- Unless my advancing years are making me miss something?
