Before updating, the beggining of September, Mozilla saved my files in a folder. Inside it are my bookmarks in a jsonlz4 format. When I tried to restore them back on Mozilla I got a message saying it was impossible to read the file. If anyone would be so kind to explain to step by step how to restore my bookmarks or change the format to a readable formst I would be very grateful.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
