I love Mozilla and recently updated it. I had had the Norton safe search engine and HATED it, but could not figure out how to get rid of it. I was delighted when the Mozilla update said it could not keep that search engine. Then I was upset when it said it would replace it when it was safely updated. I DO NOT WANT THE NORTON SEARCH BAR TO BE REINSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER. How do I communicate that to Firefox so they do not automatically replace it??

Mozilla doesn't install the Norton search bar, the Norton security suite does.

Hello Revcbail, Mozilla is going to replace the Norton safe search engine. However, you can disable it once it does get updated. Go to Menu>AddOns>Extensions and Norton will be in there then click the disable button to the right of the extension.

Have a great day!!

thanks, Jon, but I don't think so. Mozilla said it would install it when it was updated, and that method of removal was not working for me with the earlier version. I need to MAKE SURE that Mozilla will not put it back.

menu on which application: Mozilla itself?

I tried that previously and did not have success.

It would be the menu on Firefox. The procedure I described should disable it. Cor-El is right, Mozilla doesn't install the add on, and only updates Firefox to be compatible with the version of the toolbar for those who enjoy using it. I would check again to make sure, because that is the solutions, and it's the same for all browsers.

Firefox from Mozilla.org does not come with any Norton related toolbars or search engines in search bar.

Mozilla does not update Firefox to be compatible with any of the thousand Extensions including the Norton toolbar extension but rather Norton makes and maintain their toolbar extension for each major Firefox updates.

Norton has to make a new version of their toolbar now as of Firefox 41.0 and on.
