Hello,

I am having trouble saving "printable" Wikipedia (th) article using firefox. Saving the same URL using chrome presents no problem. The file saved by firefox looks mostly like a stream of text.

Help? Thanks.

cor-el, thanks for the suggestion. Starting in safe mode does fix saving/loading the saved file problem. I don't know if any of the add-ons uses Greasemonkey or not, but the garbage text has at least one Greasemonkey in it. My problem add-on is "Wikitweak". Doh!

Wesley, the theme that I used doesn't appear to cause a problem. Starting in safe mode using the theme worked just fine.

jscher2000, I am using "Save page as", saved with an extra directory and all.

Thank you all again for your help. Now I am done. I suppose the "safe mode" is the default debugging step anyway.

Are you using Greasemonkey script that runs on those pages?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

This issue could be caused by your browser's theme. Please try setting the default theme and see if the issue continues.

For more information on reseting your Firefox theme, please refer to the theme section of this article:

Are you using the built-in "Save Page As" with "Web page, complete"? When I test either HTML Only or Complete, they look fine -- screen shot attached.

When I search in the source of the pages I saved, I don't see the wikEd code shown in your second screenshot, so there is something different about what you are saving from what I am saving.

I am using the English (U.S.) version of Firefox, in case that makes a difference.
