I am using Windows 7. Everything is up to date. I have the latest Quick time installed. My defaults are set to use it in Firefox. My plugins are up to date. Settings in the player under quality are set to auto.I've tried both with the accelerator and without. Yet the sound is off on all YouTube video's. Even when I start Firefox in safe mode. Video's play perfectly in Internet Explorer. It's just Firefox. I can not open Quick time to try to play a video and see if they work in there because when I open the Quick time and click lets say on movie trailers for example, Firefox won't open the page for me. Says they are blocking parts of the page that are not safe. I don't care about that. Just mentioning it in case it has any connection with video's playing correctly since it is my default player. How can I fix audio video sync? Would also like to know if I uninstall and reinstall Firefox will I get back all my bookmarks? Will it reset all these little quirks to settings that work? A simple reset hasn't fixed anything.

Sometimes, the problem is with the clip itself.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Note that this is about QuickTime and not about Shockwave Flash plugin as you can in the question. Maybe check the buffer settings in QuickTime and possibly increase their size.
