My email for the past week is not coming through for hours and then suddenly a bunch will come through at once. Sometimes I have to restart Thunderbird and other times it will just suddenly come through at once.

Hi Rena.

What are your settings for automatic checking new e-mails? You will find them in Tools > Account Settings > account name > Server Settings as option named Check for new messages every + time. This option has to be checked and desired time period specified.
