With an update I have lost the menu bar on the "write" page. How do I show this again.

Solución elegida

Same way you have done in most applications since the beginning of Windows. Pressing the alt key or F10 reveals hidden menu bars. From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on.
