When trying to open a .docx file on a web site it is downloaded as a .zip file and is unreadable (Windows 10).

Am looking at a web site which has a word .docx file that I wish to open - file is xxxx.docx as shown in the pathname at the bottom of the screen.

When I click on the file to download the filename appears correctly but underneath it show a 'compressed Folder' at https://sites.creat-cdn.net.

What is happening and why is it not simply opening the docx file as I asked.

As you may guess, opening a DOCX normally as a file on the computer is no problem.

The problem occurs from within a web site being viewed through Firefox - the filename is xxx.docx according to the link that displays at the bottom of the page when I hover over the link, but when I click on the link the file is somehow converted to a zip file.

Just make sure that the file has the correct file extension. If Firefox suggests .zip instead of .docx then you need to change that yourself. If you do that with files you already downloaded then that should be sufficient to make Windows recognize them.
