Every time I start my computer, it reverts to IE and with proxy. I have even tried locking my preferences, but that does not work either. Since I do not have a proxy, Yahoo will not start up until I go in and change to "no proxy". When I reboot or shut down the computer, it reverts to IE with proxy.

Hello, probably it is a problem in your win 8.1 network settings, check : cursor to bottom-right corner to get Charms > Settings gear > Change PC settings > Network > Proxy > see if the Automatically detect settings" is ON and make it OFF. Check also the Manual Proxy Setup, Use a proxy server to OFF.
