After upgrading to OSX El Capitan I can't connect to Google imap server
Recently upgraded my Mac mini to El Capitan. Before the upgrade I had TBird working flawlessly accessing my GMail account and my Hotmail account. Now, I have no problems with Hotmail, but Gmail keeps asking the password to connect to gmail's imap server. I also have TBird in my Ubuntu Linux pc and Windows laptop and haven't had any problems like this. Any help to solve this problem is appreciated. Thanks.

Using an anti virus on your mac? They are a new trend in mac use and mac users are just not used to the total mess they can make of communications.

Matt: I have been using Sophos antivirus since my OS was Mountain Lion and didn't have any problems before. Regardless, I will try disabling the antivirus to see what happens. Will let you know. wp
Matt: I'm still having the problem even after I disabled Sophos antivirus. Something else must have happened after I upgraded to El Capitan. Must be something else. wp
