Thunderbird stops for long periods when I try to open and email, file an email in subfolders, try to delete, compose, anything. Sometimes the warning box of Unresponsive Script Script:chrome://messenger/content/mailWindow.js:177 appears, sometimes it does not. I have Windows 10 on a pretty new laptop. I've always used Thunderbird. But this issue makes it almost impossible to use. I need help and am not a technical person.

I tried this but it showed me no issues. Thanks, though. I tried everything else I read on Mozilla Support and elsewhere too. On a fluke, I uninstalled Ad-Aware and the problem was solved.

The following is not too technical - just all the instructions....

Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10 Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does problem go away?

Ad-Aware addon doesn't exist for Thunderbird?

So what product did you have installed? ( URL? ) ANd did you have any non-standard options enabled in it?

I had Ad-Aware on my last computer....for years. I installed it from http://www.lavasoft.com on this new Win10. I didn't do anything as far as changing the AdAware defaults/options, if that's what you mean. I haven't messed with Add-Ons...trying to keep it simple this time around.

Very interesting. Thanks for the great details!
