If I have different existing bookmarks, etc. on two computers, can I create a sync account on one computer, sign in on the second computer and merge the info?
I have had separate bookmarks and saved passwords on my work and home computers for awhile. I just created a sync account at work. If I log in at home, will my all existing bookmark/password files be replaced by my sync account info from work? Or will it all merge and become part of my sync account? Will my home info be loaded onto my work computer?

Sync lets you share your data and preferences (such as your bookmarks, history, passwords, open tabs, Reading List and installed add-ons) across all your devices. So yes, your home info will be loaded onto your work computer (only if you also login with your sync account in your home pc). They will merge your info. Suppose you have removed a bookmark from your home pc, that will be also deleted from your office pc.
