How do I absolutely prohibit reloading pages on restart

I can't find a setting that allows me to absolutely prevent reloading pages on restart. I don't care why I restarted or what I was doing, I want Firefox to start on a blank screen. No tiles of suggestions, no "whoops this is embarassing", no attempts to restore what I had open: just the nice, peaceful blank screen that I requested when I set it to "Show A Blank Page" when Nightly starts.

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

Set browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 This will only have the about:sessionrestore page come up without loading the privious session.

Set browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false This should do what you want.

Some of those are automatic responses for if Firefox crashes. Was there a crash or other problem?

Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.

I'm aware that they are "automatic responses for if Firefox crashes". As I said, I don't care why I'm restarting, I do not want these automatic responses. I want a blank page.
