Can't send email messages and my provider is Centurylink and I can use their webmail but when using Thunderbird they don't go through and problem just started
I can't send email through Thunderbird and the problem just started on 9/4/17. Up til then everything was fine. My ISP is centurylink and I can go on their webmail and send just fine, but not from Thunderbird. Its weird cause I sent test emails to my work address from home and all went through. But when i tried sending emails to my sons ( Nev and Oregon) they have not received any of them. Sent 10 or 12 test emails and none received. There are no error messages, and they show up in the "Sent" folder but they are not going through. They do NOT show up in the Centurylink webmail "Sent" folder so they are not making it that far. The ISP I am sending them to my sons are yahoo and hotmail. I can send them through a gmail account but not from Thunderbird. I spent an hour online with Centurylink and they can find no problem...and given I can send through their webmail I tend to agree its a Thunderbird issue. I have checked and re-checked the incoming and outgoing server settings and they are as Thunderbird and Centurylink specify. I tried turning off my firewall and no luck. What is going on?

- Does Thunderbird work in TB Safe mode (see Thunderbird Safe Mode)?
- Do you use anti-virus and firewall software? What is the version?
See the info below. Also, I use MacAfee Security Center for my anti-virus and firewall, and the Version is 16.0.1.
I started Thunderbird in safe mode but no success in sending emails. Although I did send one last night to a friend and they received it.

There have been other reports here complaining about a similar issue with Centurylink. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1174317
Wait for three days until you get the bounce error message and post the error code. It seem Centurylink have screwed up their server configuration, so that messages from the Centurylink SMTP server are rejected by SMTP servers from other email providers.
It doesn't solve my issue but I understand the situation. In reading of others with this issue I got the same line from Centurylink....it must be your client cause our webmail works. The only difference is I'm not getting any error messages or bouncebacks. Nothing has shown up as undeliverable and if I check my Sent folder in TB there sits my email just like it has been sent. Guess I'll wait and see for a few days.
Ok so centurylink works sometimes and sometimes not. But here is a copy of an error message i just received upon trying to reply to an email.
"An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 4.3.4 allocated resources exceeded."
Any idea what this means?
You really should ask Centurylink about the error. It's from their server.
