After the TB 52.5.0 upgrade, the AllMail folder is gone and the Archives folder is active. Also, mail is automatically added to the Archives folder. This is a gmail account.

Coincidentally, I configured a new gmail account so that I now have two gmail accounts for the TB installation. So, there are two changes in play. Both gmail accounts are set up as IMAP.

Was this change intended with the 52.5.0 upgrade?

Perhaps juli_ranger does not know that Thunderbird works with gmail accounts. Thunderbird makes adaptions to it's folder presentation for gmail accounts.

re: the AllMail folder is gone and the Archives folder is active.

Gmails 'All Mail' folder is only visible if you have subscribed to see it. Suggest you check to see if this has changed.

  • Right click on imap gmail account in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe' to see the list.
  • Select 'All Mail' and click on 'Subscribe', then click on 'OK'

Gmail's 'All Mail' folder is the Archive folder. You should not be seeing an 'Archive' folder in imap gmail unless you have created it, but that does seem illogical when you already have 'All Mail' archive keeping copies of all your emails.

Check Account Settings to point to correct folder.

  • right click on imap gmail mail account in Folder pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select: 'Copies & Folders'
  • Under 'Message Archives'
  • select 'Keep messages archives in:'
  • Select 'Other' and choose the 'All Mail' folder on gmail account.
  • click on 'OK'.
