Can't make new folders, "create folder" button doesn't work
I am setting up the program before I make Thunderbird the default mail client. I am working off line. I click File > New > Folder, in the resultant box I put in the folder name, and click Create Folder, but nothing happens no matter how many times I click. Is this because I am off-line? I have apparently made some new folders and set up message rules previously, but I was then working on-line and although Thunderbird wasn't the default mail program, it kept downloading mail, this is why I put all the settings to off-line. Is there any way I can make folders and message rules off-line? I don't want to work on-line, because Thunderbird will download the 600+ emails on the ISP's server, even though they have already downloaded in to my current Windows Live Mail. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance. Win

Is the account setup as IMAP? Are you creating this new folder under the IMAP account or a different account like Local Folders?
Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is to be IMAP, and I am trying to make the folders in the actual account, not in Local Folders. Thanks Win
Have you always used POP before? Are you new to IMAP?
IMAP folders are on the server. Since you are offline you are not connected to the server and cannot create folders there. When I am offline and I right click an IMAP account the New Folder choice is greyed out as would be expected. If you do this with a POP account there is no problem creating the folder when offline since POP folders are on your local hard drive.
