Can histroy be cleared based on a time period
Can Firefox clear history items based on a time period. for example automatically clear history or items under history by a selection say every 30 minutes, 1 hour, once every 24 hours?

Not usually unless you accidentally click the clear history option. But if you don't do this by choice and it still does that. That would mean your Firefox is corrupted and should be uninstall and delete the Mozilla folder and reinstalled. That's what I would do.
You would have to do this manually with "Clear Recent History". You can select some time ranges and in the Details pane you can set what items to clear.

Expire history by days Allows to expire history older than a fixed amount of days.
I think this would be a great idea as this would help secure fIrefox for anyone who uses this option. can anyone tell me a reason it would pose a problem?
I have noticed that Safari has this option under the general tab called "remove history items" then you select the time period.
I will make this recommendation in feedback.
