Where did Side View come from and why is it in my browser?

I just noticed a random new button on my toolbar this afternoon called Side View. I removed it from the toolbar since I didn't know what it was, but I can't find any extensions installed that might have added it. It does, however, show up in my data when I click the Share Data button on this submission form. I did some searching, and apparently this could get enabled with Test Pilot. I don't seem to have the Test Pilot add-on either, so that didn't seem to lead anywhere. I am not running a beta version of Firefox. Can anyone explain how this unwanted feature may have inadvertently been added to my browser? How can I remove it?

Hi j3rk, thank you for sharing your add-ons list. This looks like the one:

Side View 0.5rc5 (side-view-shield@mozilla.org)

The word "shield" makes me think it is a Shield study. You can view and manage the studies your Firefox is running by typing or pasting about:studies in the address bar and pressing Enter to load that internal page.

One thing never use beta for your Browser unless your testing it. And you should look at you control panel to see what is installed knowingly or not knowingly.

Thank you jscher2000. I manually went in and deleted the xpi file after posting the question, but now at least I know where it came from.
