On a lot of websites I visit ranging from large news outlets to webshops, the scrollbar doesn't show and stays hidden even if I move my pointer to the edge. Occasionally it will reveal itself but 9 out of 10 it just doesn't work and I have to use double finger gestures on trackpad to scroll.

Some info about my system: Macbook pro 2017 with Mojave 10.14.1, dark theme Firefox 65.0.1 Wacom Intous 5

Any help would be appreciated as I don't think I am the only one with this problem. Example of a website that hide the scrollbar: https://www.decovry.com

Thanks, Gaudi

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

If you have a three button mouse, clicking the middle button turns the mouse into a scroll controller.

Current Firefox releases support some CSS features to style the scroll bars used on web pages.

This feature is controlled by these prefs that you can inspect and modify on the about:config page.

  • layout.css.scrollbar-width.enabled
  • layout.css.scrollbar-color.enabled

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
