I have setup a new website and created 3 email accounts. I have sent emails from another email address and they all show in Webmail.

I then tried create the accounts in Thunderbird, first using the normal link in an existing email account to set up a new email account, completed the info, click on "continue" and nothing happens.

Then tried going to "Account Actions" "Add mail account" completed the form, clicked continue and nothing happens.

What could be the solution?

Originally you had an issue with adding mail accounts in early 2017. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1154342 On that occasion you could only get this to work via the 'Account Settings' window > 'Account Actions' > 'Add Mail Account'

You also had an issue creating a new mail account about a year ago. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1170137 Do you recall how you fixed the problem or did you never sort it out? Or did you get this to work via the 'Account Settings' window > 'Account Actions' > 'Add Mail Account'

So it sounds like you have had issues of this kind for a while.

After starting computer, do you logon to a 'Local User Account' to see your desktop? Is that Local User Account (not microsoft account) set up as 'Administator'? OR do you logon using a 'Microsoft Account' to see desktop?

What version of Thunderbird are you currently using and what Language?

Hi,

I had hoped somebody could have helped. Does anybody have an idea what the problem is?

Maybe the account setup wizard has become stuck trying to look up the server settings. Who is the account provider, and what are their suggested settings? You could try adding the account offline and see if it completes.

Otherwise, maybe you have a security program working in the background and failing to find certificates for secure connections.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Good tip. Unfortunately I still have the same problem.

Followed your instructions. I completed the details and click on "Continue" but nothing happens, it seems like my system will not create a new account.

If clicking 'Continue' doesn't even work, I wonder if you have a broken set of controls. If you run TB in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB), does it make any difference?

Hi, Unfortunately not, still the same problem. Regards Drachsi

Is this the first time you are using Thunderbird or have you been using Thunderbird for other email addresses for a while?

If this is a new installation and first time user, please check your Firewall as it could be blocking Thunderbird and not allowing any attempt to access internet. Thunderbird must be set up as an allowed program in the Firewall. The Firewall may be part of your Anti-Virus product.

There have been cases where certain confirmation buttons in a dialog window fail to work due to errors in the localization, i.e. translation, of the program itself. For example, an OK button works in the English version of TB but not the Korean or Estonian version.

This isn't the most likely source of your problem, but barring any unusual features of your system, it's hard to diagnose - and since it doesn't work in Offline mode, that suggests it's not a firewall issue.

Just to rule out 3rd-party startup programs, you could run in Windows safe mode and see if it makes a difference for TB.

Hi,

I have been using Thunderbird for more than 15 years and manage 30 email accounts. No problem with the existing accounts, just a problem creating a new one.

Hi, Yes you are right. This time I set up 3 email addresses for a new website then tried adding a 4th and it never loaded.

You are also correct about logging in. My widows 10 has had a long history from and upgraded Windows7. I login using a password, so guess it is a "local user account"?

I have 60.7.2 (32-bit) but my system is 64bit. This time I created an email with a name never used before, and it loaded on the 3rd attempt

It has to be my crazy system, but your reply helped me make progress and I thank you for your support. Until this next problem.
