How can I save a large folder with sub-folders to my external HD. I want to be able to open the saved file with Thunderbird at some future time. After saving I would remove the folder from my current Thunderbird to save space and improve processing time.

This add-on offers options to export folders with subfolders, with or without structure, to mbox format. Importing can be done as well.

Maybe you want to try the Archive process and set the destination as your external drive? Here's a link...

The importexporttools add-on provides the perfect solution and a great deal more useful stuff besides!

The Thunderbird Archive process provides only a way to move messages to an Archive folder within Thunderbird. It does not offer any way that I could discover to move messages out of Thunderbird to my own disk space.

This solution (importexporttools add-on) no longer works because the addon is not signed and cannot be loaded. Do you have another solution?
