Thunderbird started rejecting my password about a week ago
Hi, for about a week now Thunderbird suddenly started rejecting my password, giving the following error message; "Sending of password for user marcoferraro did not succeed. Mail server pop3.tpg.com.au responded: [AUTH] Invalid login" along with a timeout message.
Using windows mail or logging in through my server's website does still work so its not the password.
I have tried deleting the password from the save list and retyping it. Nothing.
Ive uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. Nothing.
I copied this from the troubleshooter; 'Application Basics Name Thunderbird Version 68.9.0 Build ID 20200602112704 Update History Update Channel release User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/68.9.0 OS Windows_NT 10.0 Profile Folder (Local drive) Build Configuration about:buildconfig Memory Use about:memory Performance about:performance Registered Service Workers about:serviceworkers Launcher Process Enabled Multiprocess Windows 0/0 Disabled Remote Processes 0 Enterprise Policies Inactive Google Location Service Key Missing Google Safebrowsing Key Missing Mozilla Location Service Key Missing Safe Mode false Profiles about:profiles Mail and News Accounts ID Incoming server Outgoing servers Name Connection security Authentication method Name Connection security Authentication method Default? account1 (pop3) pop3.tpg.com.au:110 STARTTLS Normal password smtp.tpg.com.au:587 STARTTLS Normal password true account2 (none) Local Folders None Normal password account3 (pop3) pop3.tpg.com.au:110 STARTTLS Normal password smtp.tpg.com.au:587 STARTTLS Normal password true account4 (pop3) pop3.tpg.com.au:110 STARTTLS Normal password smtp.tpg.com.au:587 STARTTLS Normal password true Crash Reports for the Last 3 Days Report ID Submitted

Can anyone help please?

Your server settings may be correct, but they are different from what TPG suggests:
incoming mail.tpg.com.au on port 110 (POP) or 143 (IMAP), connection security = none, authentication = password, transmitted insecurely, User Name = part of address before @; outgoing mail.tpg.com.au on port 25, connection security = none, authentication = none or password, transmitted insecurely (not sure), User Name = part of address before @.
https://www.tpg.com.au/support/emailsetting
https://www.tpg.com.au/support/thunderbird_3.php
Sending will only work when connected to the TPG network, disable a VPN if you have one, and disable Avast scanning of the TB profile.
Thank you for the advice but it made no difference. I should also mention that my wife's and father's emails are slaved to my own and both of them still work with thunderbird. Only mine doesnt. And the only difference between our accounts are the passwords.
What do you mean by "slaved"?
My email is the primary one. The 'slave' emails have their own separate accounts and inboxes but are linked to mine.
Here is an explanation from tpg; "The additional email address is what we call your slave email account while an alias is an email address that serves as a nickname identity for your master or slave email account. All the emails sent to your alias email address will be redirected to the same mailbox as the master or slave account.
If you want additional email address aside from the one that you have now what you need to create is a slave (additional) email address. Creating a slave account will not disable your main account, you are just creating additional email address under the main one."
So the other emails linked to mine are still working with thunderbird but mine isnt.
