Hi,

I have opened a PDF file in the built-in viewer of FF, but I can't find a way to download it directly from the viewer. There's no download button/link/icon anywhere on iOS 13.6.1 (iPhone SE 1st gen), and the latest version of FF. I'm completely stucked because I can't open the PDF file again, for example by entering the URL in a new tab. I have it in the viewer and if I close the tab, I won't be able to open the file again because the URL had a lifetime, and it is expired now.

I can't believe the download function is missing in FF built-in PDF viewer/iPhone 2016/iOS 13.6.1. Any idea how I can do that? Thank you advance for your help. Regards

This question has come up a lot lately. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to download a PDF file a this time. Hopefully, the capability will be added in the future. In the meantime, you can use Safari or Chrome.

Hi OBW47, thank you for your answer and the workarounds.

Yeah this is pissing me off and needs to be addressed and fixed if I have to use another browser to save a PDF why the hell would I use or keep this one? I’m a tester and this issue will for certain have people drop this browser. Your fix to use another browser is ridiculous, if another browser does what you can’t why would they keep using you? Fix it.

I got the same problem when wanting to save the results of a questionaire.

I can't open the generated PDF containig my personal information by using the URL. I would guess this is an implementation that makes sense and totaly fine. Sharing, copy&paste etc. don't work for this reason either I suppose. As far as I can see, it always shares the link, not the file.

Printing won't work, since my Canon Printer uses an App and does not support AirPrint. So I even can't make a hardcopy to scan it. This would have been a crazy idea from the start, but perhaps it helps someone.

I have not uses another browser for a long, long, time. But since I just got hit very hard, I cannot use Firefox on the iPad anymore until this basic functionallity is added in some way. :(

It is a simple story: As a user I want to save displayed PDFs to my local Firefox-folder so important and temporary information is not lost.

How is this solved??? I just got an email saying it was. This is not fixed. It’s just silly. Such a basic function. I love firefox on pc but the mobile version is watered down and almost in-name only.

Hi Seanicus, I see someone clicked the Helpful button, but it isn't marked as a solution. Possibly an error with the notification.

Hi, my fault, I clicked by error on the « mark as read » button in the notification I received by email after Daniel’s comment. Surprisingly, it marked the issue as resolved which is not the case. Then I reverted the status to Unresolved. Sorry for the inconvenience.

from reddit reddit You're right, it seems there is no native download function in Firefox for iOS. It's not as straightforward as the native Safari "save to files" button, but here are a few alternatives.

  1. Open PDF file in Firefox
  1. Share button
  1. "Markup up" button
  1. "Ok" in the upper-left corner
  1. "Save file in"

Or

 # Open PDF file in Firefox
  1. Share button
  1. "Copy" button
  1. Open the file app and browse to the desired location
  1. Press and hold
  1. Select "Paste" action

Or

In the Shortcut gallery, you might find a shortcut name "Download file" that can be added in the Share sheet. Once called, it will ask you where to save the file and then save it.

Or

If you have a third-party pdf application, you might have the possibility to share the pdf from Firefox to that app. The PDF will open in that app and you will be able to save it.
