As of a day or two ago, Thunderbird 78.5.0 will not download email from the Comcast/Xfinity Server. I can send mail out, but I can not receive email with Thunderbird. It appears as though Thunderbird is hanging when it is attempting to bring down email. I have been running 78.5.0 since November 19. My guess is Comcast changed something, and Thunderbird is the victim.

Any ideas to get around this problem?

Thanks, RR

Specifically, according to their forums, you should temporarily disable SSL until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products?ref=esf - the problem is being reported by dozens of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/

Wayne,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I am running Eset Security, and I was able to find a solution to my problem on the Eset Forum. I followed the steps suggested by Kathryn:

   1. Disable SSL filtering
   2. Close Thunderbird
   3. Launch Thunderbird
   4. Re-enable SSL filtering.

Thanks to all the help from Mozilla Support and the Eset Forum!
