Apologies, idk why for some reasons, I thoughts you're talking about Firefox for iOS.
To add bookmark in Firefox desktop, simply click the star icon on the address bar when you're visiting a website that you'd like to bookmark. To learn more, see Bookmarks in Firefox.
To see browsing history, please follow the steps in the following article Browsing history in Firefox - View the websites you have visited.

Hi Bob,
Simply click the three dots menu and choose "Add Bookmark". More about that How to add, remove, edit and move bookmarks in Firefox for iOS
Kiki,
These instructions to ADD BOOKMARKS and be able to see my HISTORY did not work. For one thing, I never could find the 3-dots. Bottom line is I can't save anything to Bookmarks or view anything in History. Having History is something I use a lot so I have to go to Safari if being able to have history is important to what I am working on.
Bob
Can you update to Firefox 39 and see if the problem persists?
When I open Firefox, all I get is a Google search and a bunch of blank boxes. I cannot find where where the requests for updates is.
I have been getting popup notices for months saying I have updates. I click on it but it does not appear to update anything

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.
This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
- use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.
If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
- you lose the history when a new places.sqlite is created
You may have to restore an older bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder via the Bookmarks Manager (Library).
- Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
