Cannot move emails to Local Folders.
I have just recently migrated to Thunderbird from Outlook 2010. All my PST files were imported into TB and are in the Local Folders section.
However when I try to move an email from my IMAP folders to the relevant folder on Local Folders I get: "the messages could not be moved or copied to folder 'General on local folders' because writing to folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Deleted, and then choose Compact Folders, and then try again."
I have tried that and get a small increase in space but not for long. Now it does not get me any at all.
Total size of Local Folders is 10.3GB. Surely that is not unusual.
I moved all the folders that were, in O2010, separate PSTs to being directly under Local Folders and thought that had solved the issue. But not.
How can I resolve this so that I can move emails to Local Folders for offline storage. I don't want to delete old emails.
Thanks,

Now gettng the same message about not being able to store a copy of a sent email due to storage. instead put a copy of the sent email in Sent Items-Local Folders. Local folders now size of 8.3GB as have moved some of the old PST folders to a new Local Folders created using Local Folders extension.
Still get this issue frequently which is being a real pain but cannot see where the problem is or how to resolve.
If taking 5GB out of the default Local Folders into their own Local Folder (using Local Foldes add in) then how do I reduce the size and why does it come and go. See attached for message I get. This is after the one telling me that not enough space.
