Bug: The download dialog doesn't allow to check "Do this automatically for files like this from now on". WHY???? Please, can anyone in the world tell me, how to add and edit mime types??? I want to download files without any confirmations. Why is the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" option always unavailable???

Greyed out Do this automatically from now on
in PCLOS 2010. Firefox3.6.8
Tab Mix + Xmarks Last Pass Download Statusbar
See "File handling in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2": http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
"Do this automatically from now on " is only enabled if a server sends the file with a specific MIME type.
how come Mozilla has not been able to fix this issue for so many years?? Shame on Mozilla. It's ridiculous.
That is how Firefox works. It would be a security risk to open a file automatically with a specific program only based upon the file extension. If a program supports a specific MIME type and the server sends the file with that MIME type then Firefox will allow to set an automatic action.
I have finally found solution. Just download this addon named mime_edit-0.601004242000.xpi and add your MIME types, e.g. RAR, AVI, WMV.... http://space.geocities.yahoo.co.jp/gl/alice0775/view/20080912/1221150790 This one is compatible with Firefox 4

I was able to tell Firefox to save files of any type before (using v3.6). Now, with version 4, I can't tell Firefox to save common file types (e.g. .rar, .pdf). What gives?
