You can copy the files/folders from the old profile folder into the current profile folder as shown in the Recovering important data from an old profile article.

When you select "open containing folder", it will be in your current profile folder, that is where you copy the files to.

Your profile folder is not in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile" in case you pasted there. That folder is a template folder to create a new profile. If you copied files to that folder then you need to remove them.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders, use %APPDATA% in the File name field
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders"
You may want to uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types" to see the file extensions of all files.

  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
  • Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

You shouldn't copy the entire profile folder, but only the files that you really need. That is why Tony posted that link above.

ok, I am still playing around with my bookmarks I have a folder with my saved bookmarks open. They are in the HTML format. The window that's open came from the restore link I clicked that said restore bookmarks. Now, that file has a few folders that I assume were my tabs at the top of my browser. I do not have an option to select more than one bookmark at a time. I tried several keyboard moves but no luck. thoughts? thanks
